by Vincent Pouplard
"Today in Greece, Sun is sad my friend". Words from an Armenian migrant in search of a better life. He founded it. But it's gone now. Mirages of the sun... I spent my days to roam following unknowns whom I observed. I met people, spoke with hands. i discovered Kaïmos.

sadescription Sgan-Cohen looks at me looking at him looking at me across the decades
2mn23   color   stéréo   2014   USA
by Neil Needleman
I shot this strand of Super8 movie film circa 1976 in Brooklyn, New York. It features the late Michael Sgan-Cohen, artist, art historian, philosopher, willing viewer of my early experimental films (vimeo.com/neilneedleman), and cheerful participant. Sgan-Cohen was my favorite art history teacher at Brooklyn College. He taught the subject like no other professor at the college—with an extremely deep sense of passion and a strong personal connection to the ideas. When I watch this film (which has become creepier over the decades) I can hear his booming voice and staccato Israeli accent. It should be more than obvious that I thought he had a fascinating face, too. Here's looking at you, Dr. Sgan-Cohen!

sadescription Minore
5mn15   color   stéréo   2014   Greece
by Yiorgos Nalpantidis
« Minore » is a found footage film, inspired by “Smyrneiko Minore”, a traditional song first recorded in 1918. « Minore » is an attempt for a vague description of something lost; not of a vivid recollection or a distant age, but of a missing connection, a forgotten relation to the world.
